MY TOP 5 FAVORITE BOOKS

These are my favorite books of all time, in no order in particular, except Ignite Me which occupies, and will continue to do so, the 1° place, the rest may change.

BTW, the synopsis here were taken from Goodreads.

THE HUNGER GAMES -SUZANNE COLLINS

WHY I LIKE IT: was it the characters? No, although I really like Peeta and Haymitch. Was it the story? What made me put it in this list? I always enjoyed reading, ever since I was a little girl, but it was this book that introduced me to a whole other world, that made me want to buy books and read fantasy novels and dystopian novels and so on and so forth, I have not stopped reading ever since. That's why this book will always have a special place in my heart.

SYNOPSIS

"Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love."

IGNITE ME (Shatter Me #3) -TAHEREH MAFI

WHY I LIKE IT: this is my favorite book of all time, I really identified with the protagonist (Juliette) and enjoyed her evolution. However, the main reason is Warner, he's such a complex character, morally grey, lethal yet kind, cold yet vulnerable, and the way we slowly unravel his past and personality fascinated me. My favorite ship of all time is also in this series.

SHATTER ME SYNOPSIS

"I have a curse

I have a gift

I am a monster

I'm more than human

My touch is lethal

My touch is power

I am their weapon

I will fight back

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior."

ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES -JENNIFER NIVEN

WHY I LIKE IT: (*WARNING*: this book deals with topics such as suicide, mental health, depression, among others; take it into consideration before reading it) it made me see the world in a different way, the writing style is amazing, it's filled with amazing quotes, the main characters are great and it was an emotional rollercoaster. Finch and Violet go through so much and they try to help each other to get out of the deep end. Finch is funny and smart and great and I felt frustrated because of the way some of the people around him treated him. It's the book that has made me cry the most.

SYNOPSIS

"Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.

Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.

When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink."

THE SHACK -WILLIAM PAUL YOUNG

WHY I LIKE IT: it made me reflect not only on my faith but also on the way I live my life, on the way society works, on concepts such as freedom and sacrifice, it made me see pain in a different light too. It talks about God, yes, but if you don't believe in a otherworldly being you can read it only for the story and the reflections it has.

SYNOPSIS

"Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his "Great Sadness," Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend.

Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever.

In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant The Shack wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!"

A COURT OF MIST AND FURY (A Court of Thornes and Roses #2) -SARAH J. MAAS

WHY I LIKE IT: The main relationship in this book is a hate to love, enemies to lovers relationship, really angsty, and the characters are morally grey, which makes their relationship more interesting.

A COURT OF THORNES AND ROSES SYNOPSIS

"Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price ...

Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever."
